LOOK: Underwater Wonderland for Divers in Italy

Scuba Diving Cornino Lake Italy Algae

Franco Banfi

Green algae blankets the bottom of the Cornino Lake in Italy, and the clear water makes it excellent for underwater photography. To get the shot I used a Canon EOS 5D camera set at f/8, 1/125 sec and ISO 160 with a Canon EF15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens in a Seacam housing and a single Seaflash 150 strobe just to light the grass.

About The Shot

The bottom of the Cornino Lake is colonized by green algae, creating thick underwater grasslands. The low temperature and the shortage of food bring about the scarcity of fauna. The clarity of the water and the shallow depth lets see the mountain outside.
