The PADI Tec Deep Instructor course is for existing Instructors allowing them to teach courses Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 in professional and safe approach to technical diving. The course begins with basic training skills with additionally assisting techniques philosophies designed to let you developed your instructor capabilities.

TecRec Instructor Course Options

Option 1: The PADI Tec 40 course is the perfect introduction to the world of Tec Diving. As a PADI Tec Instructor, you are able to teach this introductory tec diving course, along with the PADI Discover Tec experience.

During the PADI TecRec Instructor Course, you’ll refine and master your tec diving skills, also learn how to teach the PADI Tec 40 course. You’ll be offered many tips and tricks for successfully running the PADI Tec 40 Course and the PADI Discover Tec experience. This will be delivered thorough overview of the applications, principles and practices of tec diving of the TecRec Philosophies.

Your Course Director, Joey A. Ridge, has been tec diving since 2000. Joey also holds technical instructor ratings with other technical training agencies like DSAT/PADI and TDI.

TecRec Instructor Course Prerequisites

To enrol in the PADI Tec Instructor course, you must be:

  • Be a renewed PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or a PADI Instructor with a higher rating)
  • Be a PADI Enriched Air Instructor, or have successfully completed a PADI Enriched Air Instructor Training course.
  • Be a PADI Deep Diver Instructor or have successfully completed a PADI Deep Diver Speciality Instructor Training course.
  • Have a minimum of 100 logged dives where at least 20 dives were made with enriched air nitrox, 25 dives were deeper than 18 metres/ 60 feet and at least 15 dives were deeper than 30 metres/ 100 feet.

If you are not certified as a Tec 45 Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization), you must complete the entire Tec 45 Diver course in conjunction with your instructor training.

Certification Requirements

After completing the PADI Tec Instructor course, prior to applying for certification the following additional requirements apply:

  • Be a renewed PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or PADI Instructor with a higher rating.
  • Be a PADI Enriched Air Instructor.
  • Be a PADI Deep Diver Speciality Instructor.
  • Be certified as a PADI Tec 45 Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. For the purposes of this level, a qualifying certification is one that qualifies you to make decompression dives to 45 metres/145 feet using air, EANx and oxygen using double cylinder, open circuit scuba equipment.
  • Have a minimum of 20 stage decompression dives.
  • Have successfully completed the Tec Instructor Exam and TecRec Standards Exam.

Your application may need to include documentation/proof of meeting these requirements by including photocopies of certifications, qualifications, etc. Log entry copies or print outs must specify dates, depths, locations, times and gases used. Verification and signatures provided by witnesses (divers and instructors of courses assisted) must provide the same information.

Course Information

The PADI Tec Instructor Course is conducted over 4 days (even longer if necessary), and consists of 5 dives, as well as various practical application, knowledge development and skills development sessions. It will feel like presentation you did during the Padi Instructor Course IDC.

Option 2: FULL TecRec Deep Instructor

Combined with your instructor and student level course combined into one integrated internship program or Already certified tech divers with DSAT or from another training organization.

Prerequisites:

Allowing technical instructor candidates to making tech instructor development courses after Padi Recreational Instructor Course and PADI Exams (PADI IDC – PADI IE) program (there are a few additional requirements to fulfil)

These prerequisites are just enough to start your TecRec Instructor Training Course; however there is more “post/pre-requisites” to be fulfilled at any time before getting Fully Certified as a Padi TecRec Deep Instructor.

Prerequisites:

  • In Status PADI OWSI or higher
  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Be a renewed PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or a PADI Instructor with a higher rating)
  • Be a PADI Enriched Air Instructor, or have successfully completed a PADI Enriched Air Instructor Training course.
  • Be a PADI Deep Diver Speciality Instructor or have successfully completed a PADI Deep Diver Speciality Instructor Training course.
  • Have a minimum of 100 logged dives where at least 20 dives were made with enriched air nitrox, 25 dives were deeper than 18 metres/ 60 feet and at least 15 dives were deeper than 30 metres/ 100 feet.
  • Have certified a minimum of 10 or a combination of both Deep and or Enriched Air Nitrox Diver Courses
  • Have a minimum of 100 logged dives with additional requirements according depth and at least 20 logged nitrox dives
  • DAN insurance or another technical diving insurance covering policy for technical deep and gas dives
  • Medical statement approved and signed by physician

Post Requirements

  • Renewed MSDT Instructor Certificate or higher
  • PADI EAN Instructor
  • PADI Deep Speciality Instructor
  • Have assisted at least one Tec 45 or Tec 50 course
  • Have at least 270 logged dives including at least 20 stage decompression dives
  • Have certified at least 10 students as PADI NITROX/EANx or PADI Deep Speciality or combination
  • DAN insurance or another technical diving insurance covering policy for technical deep and gas dives
  • Medical statement approved and signed by physician
  • Have assisted with at least two DSAT Tec 50 courses or one Tec 45 course and one Tec 50 course.

If you have a qualifying instructor certification from another training organization as an instructor, having taught or assisted with two courses that qualify as meeting the requirements of the DSAT Tec 45 and Tec 50 courses may meet this requirement, as stipulated on the Tec Deep Instructor Application. Other types of technical training (instructor level or assisting) may meet these requirements.

Participation in the TecRec deep instructor course does not equal being certified. Course cost does not guarantee getting a PASS or a tec instructor certificate, it is only teaching cost for the course.

If further remediation, pre or post requirements or additional dives and training is required this will be charged accordingly.

As a Tec Deep Instructor candidate you will be evaluated by technical scuba instructor trainer or our in-house PADI – DSAT Technical Diving Course Director during the whole training process. Areas of Evaluation: diving knowledge, perfection of buoyancy skills, candidates attitude,

Note. PADI Tec Deep Diver is not required, If you are not certified as a Tec Deep Diver The Tec Deep Instructor training course must include the entire Tec Deep Diver course. (or equivalent with another technical training agency CMAS-TDA, PADI, DSAT, TDI, SDI, PSA, INTD, UTD, GUE, DIR, NAUI or SSI),

Course structure:

Knowledge development lessons, practical applications sessions, tecrec exams, five dives up to max 50 meters with air and side gas enriched air up to 100% oxygen.

Duration:

For certified tek divers 4+ days and assists.

For non tec certified divers before tech divers 10+ days and assists

Course post qualifications: As a Padi Tech Deep Instructor you will be qualified to teach Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 courses allowing students to make dives to max depths 50 meters and also use two decompression gases with up to 100% of oxygen to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression.

Price:

Pre-certified tech divers €600. Instructor Course Only. (Excludes manual and Padi Application fee, assisting required course/dives 200 Euro)

Non-certified before tech divers €1800. Including combined student and instructor level training in-water training, equipment rental, gases. (Excludes manual and student certification fee about 160 Euros, instructor certification fee, boat fees)

TecRec students completing Tec 45 and Tec 50 are required for the Padi TecRec Instructor Course.
