Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational scuba diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this program you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level.

PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. PADI Divemaster is the prerequisite certification for both the PADI Assistant Instructor and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certifications.

What You Learn

During the PADI Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems as well as help others improve their scuba.

You put this knowledge into action through a structured internship or series of practical training exercises.

After becoming certified as a PADI Divemaster you will be authorized to:

  • Supervise both training and non-training-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives
  • Assist a PADI Instructor during the training sessions for any PADI Diver course
  • Conduct the PADI Skin Diver course and PADI Discover Snorkelling program
  • Conduct the PADI Discover Local Diving experience
  • Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program
  • If qualified as a Discover Scuba Diving Leader, independently conduct the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program.
  • Earn the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Speciality Instructor rating to be able to teach the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer speciality.
  • Independently guide Open Water Diver course students on the tour portion of Open Water Diver course Training Dives 2, 3 and 4 at a ratio of two student divers per certified divemaster.

Accompany Open Water Diver students under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor during:

  • surface swims to and from the entry/exit point and during navigational exercises
  • when the instructor conducts a skill, such as an ascent or descent, a Divemaster can remain with other student divers (with an individual student or buddy team)
  • Accompany student divers during Adventure Dives or Speciality training dives under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor.
  • Conduct the PADI Seal Team Skin Diver Specialist AquaMission
  • Conduct subsequent dives under an instructor’s indirect supervision for Discover Scuba Diving participants after participants have satisfactorily completed the first dive with a PADI Instructor.
  • Teach Emergency First Response courses after successfully completing an Emergency First Response Instructor course.

The PADI Enriched Air Diver EANx course online includes all the knowledge development requirements for the course. You’ll also have unlimited access to the PADI Enriched Air Diver manual online for reference after you have completed the course.

The Nitrox specialty courses, can be included in your scuba internship program, should you wish to include this as one of your five specialty diver courses.

The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Course Online includes all the knowledge development requirements for the course. If you want or plan to take digital photos and video underwater, this course will teach you HOW.

In the first two sections, the focus is primarily on still photography whether you take digital still images with a camera or camcorder. Finally, Section Three covers some specific tips on how to image quality underwater video with digital cameras.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training. The course focuses on preparing you to function as a PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor by introducing you to the complete PADI System. The course focuses your ability to use all components of the system as a professional dive educator. Making you better prepared for you PADI IDC with a PADI COURSE DIRECTOR.

PADI’s eLearning IDC presents you with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and allows you to self correct. This helps you move through the program efficiently and at your own pace.

eLearning PADI Instructor Development Course has nine separate topics online, to prepare you for the practical sessions needed to complete your Padi Assistant Instructor course or Padi Open Water Scuba Instructor course. These two programs combined make the full PADI IDC.

After completing the online portion of the PADI eLearning Instructor Development Course, You continue to learn how to give lesson presentations, conduct confined and Openwater training dive, just like a PADI Instructor.

The Live or full IDC portions are conducted by Joey A. Ridge, a Padi Course Director with years of experience of Professional Padi Instructor Training. The practical sessions of your training must be completed before you can attend any Padi Instructor Examinations.

After completion of the OWSI course or full IDC, you must successfully complete a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and also be a CPR & first aid instructor before your certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor.

You will also need a NEW 2010 PADI IDC Crew-Pack and have a current and up-to-date PADI Instructor Manual, depending on how recently you may have completed your PADI Divemaster course.
