What Is Technical Diving

Padi Tec 40 course introduces divers to limited decompression, using software or dive computers, for diving within recreational depth limits. This Tec Training course is prerequisite to the Tec 45 and Tec 50 level.

Cyprus Technical Diving Courses Padi Tec 40 course is equivalent of advanced nitrox course in other technical diving agencies. The equipment needed is a regular single tank BCD and a side mounted stage/deco tank.  The main goal of the Padi Tec 40 course is to teach diving in technical diving gear if possible and foundational fundamentals of technical safe decompression beyond those of recreational divers.

If you previously experienced being close to NDL (no decompression limit) or you have even exceed it, this course give you basics how to dive safer in the future when being near or over timed.

The diver will also learn how to make limited decompression dives to 40m/130ft using a single stage cylinder of decompression gas. Double tanks (or side mounted) are encouraged but not required on this course, although the full standardized technical diving rig will be discussed.

Decompression dives is limited to a maximum of ten minutes on this course with a single decompression gas up to 50% oxygen being used only to add conservatism to the dive.

The course consists of foundational confined water training dive/s, open water training dives, three knowledge development sessions and three practical equipment set-up and planning applications for technical diving.

Tec40 give a foundational background needed for continuation into other technical courses in PADI Technical Diving Instruction Tec 45 and Tec 50 courses here in Cyprus.

Who can enrol on the PADI Tec 40 course

Prerequisites:

• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
• PADI Rescue Diver (or hold an equivalent from another organisation)
• PADI Enriched Air Diver (or hold an equivalent from another organisation)
• PADI Deep Diver (or hold an equivalent from another training organisation)
• At least 30 logged dives, including 10 with enriched air and 7 not shallower than 30m
• DAN insurance or another technical diving covering policy
• Padi Tec Rec Medical statement approved by physician

What will I do on Padi Tec 40 course

Course structure: Three knowledge development sessions, three practical application, exam, four dives up to maximum of 40 meters diving on air and side gas enriched air up to 50% oxygen planned for conservatism.

Minimum age: 18 years

Duration: Minimum 3 days (Depending on Divers Abilities)

Course post qualifications: Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with not more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 meters. Tec Diving Gear, Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50% of oxygen (EANx 50) to add conservatism to required decompression
