PADI eLearning Minimum Age Requirements Expand

PADI eLearning

padi elearning for scubadivers

Market demographics are showing that 10 – 14 year olds now comprise 10 percent of the worlds population. But, perhaps more relevant is that 10 – 12 year olds make up approximately four percent of PADI Divers worldwide. This gap is a tremendous opportunity for expanding your entry-level diver base.

Responding to this opportunity, the PADI organization has expanded the minimum age for PADI eLearning student divers to include 10, 11 and 12 year olds as of 1 October 2009. This revised age requirement lets you offer the convenience of online learning to an even larger pool of potential divers. Procedures for communicating with this age group differ significantly from older age groups and must be followed.

The PADI Enriched Air Diver Course Online

padi elearning for nitrox divers

How does the online course work?

The PADI Enriched Air Diver Course Online follows the PADI eLearning format used in the successful PADI Open Water Diver Course Online and PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course Online.

Student divers complete all knowledge development online. This includes an active slide presentation with supporting voice-over, photos, diagrams and links to associated video clips. Text from the manual appears in context and divers have access to an online version after completing the course.

Divers complete exercises and the knowledge review. The PADI eLearning system provides assessment, feedback and remediation.

After completing all components of the online course, student divers sit the new version of the PADI Enriched Air Diver exam. The system scores the exam, provides remediation and administers a retest for those requiring it.

Similar to the PADI Open Water Diver Course Online, divers confirm learning and retention by completing a quick review in person with their instructor. Divers should also print out and bring their eRecords to their instructor at this time.

Divers complete the practical applications dive planning, gas analysis, fill procedures, etc. and the optional, but recommended, open water Nitrox dives as usual. This means its easy to integrate online student divers with those taking the course using a traditional approach.

Learn to take underwater digital photographs in cyprus

Course Price $120

Anyone divers or snorkellers can enrol in PADIs newest eLearning course: Digital Underwater Photo Course online (aka DUP online).

The Certification has two levels:

  • Level One certification is followed by a single training session in a pool, confined water or open water. It covers the basics of digital underwater photography, as well as gear assembly and care.
  • Level Two certification requires the level one training described above plus a second training session in open water. Additional material covered in level two includes: composing a photo, file formats, how to achieve good colour in your images, and other topics.

As with PADIs other eLearning courses, students affiliate with a PADI Dive Center or Resort during registration(CLICK HERE). Alternately, students can receive an Access Pass code issued by their instructor or through Easy Divers. After finishing the knowledge development online, the student completes the digital photography workflow workshop and in-water training for certification.

Whats Differences in the Online Course versus the digital underwater photography Book?

The crux of the course is basically the same. It continues to be an introduction to shooting underwater images using a common point-and-shoot style camera. I tell students,

You’ve basically got two choices: learn all of this the hard way and end up with ugly photos of fish behinds with blur and backscatteror you take this class which is a shortcut to shooting underwater images you’ll want to show off to friends and family.

The online course content has been updated and modernized. It includes information about shooting underwater video and includes a how to shoot underwater video tutorial. As revision schedules allow, the DUP Manual will be revised to incorporate the online content changes.

What Materials are Required?

Students are required to own the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer White Balance Slate (product no. 69231) to complete Level Two DUP training. The digital underwater photography book can be purchased separately from the dive centre.
